![]() ![]() Scientific calculators have much smaller screens (see image) and are often smaller in size. Each state has different calculator restrictions, depending again on the level of the test, but it is often only a scientific or a choice between scientific and/or graphing. ®AP has a range of options depending on the subject, but four-function, scientific, and/or graphing are listed. For example, ® SAT rallows for a hand-held (not a phone, not a computer) and either graphing or scientific. So – what are some of the differences? Many standardized tests limit the calculator students can use to a scientific, and others let students choose either scientific or graphing. graphing is basically the same whether using an online version or a hand-held. Mainly because not all students have consistent access to online tools (wifi) or phones (and phones are most often NOT allowed in class and definitely not on assessments), and the comparison between scientific vs. There are of course many online calculators as well, but obviously I am using hand-held models in this post for my comparisons. What I wanted to do in this post is point out some of the differences to perhaps allows for a better decision. Middle school tends to recommend scientific calculators, and high school often graphing, and the big question is, what’s the difference? If my child has a scientific calculator from middle school and is heading into high school, will that suffice? There is often a lot of confusion around whether you should get/use a scientific calculator or a graphing calculator, particularly in high school courses. 9) Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the region bounded by y N, the -axis and z# 4 about the Iraxis. It’s still back-to-school season, in a crazy back-to-school time, and I know a lot of parents and students are pondering what tools they need for school. 7) Find the general solution to y"-6y'+10y 8) Find the centroid of the region bounded by y- 4z- and the x-axis. c) Use the equation from part (b) to predict the number of sombies after 4 weeks 4) Find the general solution to4r 5) Use an integrating factor to find the particular solution to the following first order linear dy ODE r'y'+3ry-3+2 that satisfies (1)-2 6) Solve the initial value problem: "-6y'+8y-0 subject to y(0)-6 and '(0)-16. (Write the simplest form of the equation). b) Given that there were 2 zombies initially, express y in terms of t. a) If the relative growth rate of the population in given byk - ins per day, write a dfereatial equation that deseribes the growth of the population. It takes 9N of force to keep it stretched out to 35㎝, llow much work does it take to stretch the spring frotn 30cm to 40cm? 2) Find the center of mas of the following n-point system of masess 3) Let s(e) denote the sumber of zombies that are present at time & where t is messured in days Assume that the population grows according to the natural law of growth. 1) A spring has a natural length of 20em. Failure to show work may result in a substantial penalty. Show all work for each problem. You are being graded on the work you show as well as the final answer. Transcribed image text: EALL 2017 EXAM! MATH 123 Scere: Date: Name: The use of a non-symbolic calculator is allowed during this exam. However, your final answer should be given in simplified exact form Do not solve multiple probiems on one page Your work should be neat, orderly and legble. ![]()
